Service Description

Technology assistance services like Geek Squad or other competitors may be able to fix your technology issue for you. But they likely won't have the skills or experience in education and digital literacy instruction to teach you how to navigate that same issue in the future for yourself. Beyond the Stacks offers personalized technology assistance appointments that not only diagnose and troubleshoot your computer, mobile phone / tablet, or software navigation difficulties, but also slow down to provide you step-by-step easy to follow instruction for long term learning and success. Our warm, patient approach helps alleviate some of the frustration and futility users can often feel trying to navigate technology for even basic day to day tasks. We can also help you learn new tools or software and save you time spent on the tribulations of a trial & error approach. Save yourself and your loved ones the trouble--outsource the tech help to us! We invite you to reach out and ask if your technology problem is something we can help with during these one-on-one appointments. For an additional fee, we will provide you with a set of personalized instructions for the technology issue you work on with us to keep and use beyond the scope of your appointments. Some things we can help with: - Setting up and becoming acquainted with the features of a new device - Learning the basics of cellphone or computer navigation and digital communication - Signing up for new social media accounts or other apps to stay in touch with loved ones - Making better use of programs like MS Office or Google Suite to maximize productivity - Streamlining your workflow, consolidating your digital life, and/or password management - Storing, organizing, and retrieving your documents, photos, and other important files - Creating a plan to protect and backup your data in case of a lost or damaged device - Protecting your sensitive information and privacy for personal cybersecurity Some things we cannot help with: - Fixing hardware, hard drive issues, or any device disassembly or reassembly - Identifying and/or resolving issues in program coding or website coding - Building or maintaining workplace or home computer networks beyond simple WiFi setups - Instituting cybersecurity protections for larger business or organizational networks - Resolving every pop-up and/or program quirk that annoys you (but we can help you cope) Contact us separately to inquire about ongoing appointments.
